    Ho Chi Minh city.

Fasten your seatbelts as Ho Chi Minh City is a metropolis on the move – and we’re not just talking about the motorbikes that throng the streets. Saigon, as it’s known to all but city officials, is Viet Nam at its most dizzying: a high-octane city of commerce and culture that has driven the whole country forward with its limitless energy. It is a living organism that breathes life and vitality into all who settle here, and visitors cannot help but be hauled along for the ride.

Saigon is a name so evocative that it conjures up a thousand jumbled images. Wander through timeless alleys to ancient pagodas or teeming markets, past ramshackle wooden shops selling silk, spices and baskets, before fast-forwarding into the future beneath sleek skyscrapers or at designer malls, gourmet restaurants and minimalist bar

The ghosts of the past live on in the churches, temples, former GI hotels and government buildings that one generation ago witnessed a city in turmoil, but the real beauty of Saigon’s urban collage is that these two worlds blend so seamlessly into one.

Whether you want the finest hotels or the cheapest guesthouses, the classiest restaurants or the most humble street stalls, the designer boutiques or the scrum of the markets, Saigon has it all. The Saigon experience is about so many things – memorable conversations, tantalising tastes and moments of frustration – yet it will not evoke apathy. Stick around this conundrum of a city long enough and you may just unravel its mysteries.

    Da Lat Viet Nam

Da Lat is located in Lam Dong province, approximately 200 km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City.At an elevation of 1,500 m.Da Lat bears the look of an Old French city.It was founded in 1897 when Doctor Alexandre Yersin recommended that the area be developed as a resort town.

Da Lat has many natural and artificial lakes such as Ho Cuan Huong, Than Tho, Da Thien, and Tuyen Lam bordered by lines of pine trees, which are well known feature of Da Lat Vietnam. A trip to Da Lat is not complete until one goes to the Da Lat Flower Gardens. The temperate climate of Da Lat is suiable for flowers such as orchids, roses, lilies, and camellias.

Nowadays, tourists not only limit themselves to Dalat they also visit the area of Langbian Highland and the ethnic minorities.Langbian Mountain’s highest peak at 2,165 m is very tempting for climbers. From  Lom Bieng Klo peak, one can see endless green mountains reflecting the silver rays of the sun. Many tours are organized in the area, including parachuting and climbing.

    Buon Me Thuot Viet Nam

Tucked deep into the Central Highlands, about 360 km from Sai Gon, Buon Ma Thuot is much farther off the beaten track than Da Lat and sees far fewer tourists. But Buon Ma Thuot is certainly worth the trip. The area is an elephant training center. The region is home to a number of ethnic minorities, including the Rhade and Jaraj groups. The area also boasts some impressive waterfalls.Buon Ma Thuot has the distinction of being the site of the last major battle between the North Vietnamese Army and South Vietnamese troops during March 1975.As a testament to that battle, the first North Vietnamese Army tank to enter the city is perched in the center of town as monument to Buon Ma Thuot’s” ;oberatopm”.There has been talk of moving the tank into a museum, and indeed some travel publications say it already has but the tank still has it’s turret pointed skyward, looking still quite capable of spitting out a 120 mm shell.Buon Ma Thuot makes a great base for trekking to ethnic villages. The longhouses of the Rhade and M’nong groups are particularly impressive-try to spend a night or two.A popular stop is at the Rhade village of Buon Ma Thuot about 13 km from town.35 km to the north, in the village of Ya Liao, can be found a 13th-century Cham tower. In town, visit the hilltribe museum on Me Mai treet, which houses artifacts, ancient wepons, clothing and other relics of the Montagnard and Rhade ethnic groups. The local minority villages are also great for elephant rides.Elephants can also be found in the wild at nerby Yok Don National Park, at 58,200 hectares, Vietnam’s largest.Don village is the gateway to the park and has turned into something of a touist trap.Elephant rides are available for a few hours or a few days from local M’nong and Lao trainers, who descend from generations of families training elephants to transport logs and more recently, tourists.Expect to cough up about US$15 per hour or US$60 per day.Foru day expeditions into the jungle will set you back as much as US$500. Surrounding waterfalls worth a visit include Drai Sap, Draylon, Drayling and Draynor Waterfalls. The best are found at Drai Sap.The fodder of picture postcards, these are the falls you see on most Vietnamese calendars.About 12 km from Buon Ma Thuot, the falls aren’t particularly tall but are expansive and dramatic. It’s tempting to swim in the river pools formed at the base of these falls-and many folks do take the plunge but the surroungding and submerged rocks are jagged and treacherous. It’s easy to get yourself quite cut up.There’s also  a disappointing amount of litter, but Dac Lac officials seem to be cleaning the place up.The Drai Sap falls are accessible by hired car or minivan, followed by a moderately strenuous half kilometer hike.

Though located about 200 km farther north than Da Lat, Buon Ma Thuot is at a lower elevation and is warmer year roun.Neither does it possess Dalat’s over commercialization on the other hand.Coffee is the major cash crop here, however, this mountainous region is heavily deforested the hill sides bald and brown during the winter months.
